In 1964, community members raised funds to open Irving Community Hospital, which is today Baylor Scott & White Medial Center – Irving. It is the only donor-supported, nonprofit hospital in Irving. Civic leaders built on this history of neighbors caring for neighbors by establishing the Baylor Scott & White Irving Foundation in 1977 as a public charity that raises funds for nonprofit healthcare.
